The 2016 Department of Defense Warrior Games began with the sitting volleyball matches and bronze medal competition in West Point, NY. The U.S. Special Operations Command sitting volleyball team defeated the Army team who won last year. The USSOCOM team advanced to the gold medal competition to play U.S. Air Force team Wednesday, June 21. The DoD Warrior Games is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and Veterans. The SOCOM sitting volleyball team consists of ten elite Veteran and Active Duty competitors. Approximately 250 athletes representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command and the United Kingdom Armed Forces will compete in track, field, archery, cycling, shooting, swimming, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball.
