    U.S. Air Force Honor Guard pall bearers carry 2nd Lt. Malvin G. Whitfield, Army Air Corps and Air Force veteran, to his burial site at Arlington National Cemetery June 82016. During the 1948 Olympic Games in London, and the 1951 Pan American Games, Whitfield became the first U.S. military serviceman on active duty to win gold medals in international competitions.
