Oregon National Guard Soldier, Spc. Keith Dow, 25, of Portland, Ore., sports a sand dusted face on the North side of Fallujah in the desert of Iraq. Unlike Taji, where the Soldiers normally reside, the sand was a fine powder that often caused visibility problems when driving and created difficulties in keeping weaponry clean for combat.
