Rct. Jeodannys CabreraDiaz, Platoon 2049, Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, swings on a Confidence Course obstacle May 24, 2016, on Parris Island, S.C. This is one of 15 obstacles meant to test recruits both mentally and physically. CabreraDiaz, 21, from Naples, Fla., is scheduled to graduate July 29, 2016. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
