Nigerian, Ghanaian, Benin, and Togolese sailors work together to patch a simulated ruptured pipe during a final exercise to test their knowledge of basic damage control and first aid aboard USS Gunston Hall. The African sailors have been on board Gunston Hall to train in a variety of areas as part of Africa Partnership Station West. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa.
