160601-N-NF288-159 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 1, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class (AW/SW) Christopher Howard, from Athens, Georgia, spins a sample of JP-5 fuel during a replenishment at sea aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The sample is spun to show if there is sediment in the fuel. If sediment is found, the fuel is then flushed repeatedly until the sample is clean. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
