U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Timothy Ray, commander of 3rd Air Force, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, joins Danny Thompson, a World War II veteran, and representative from the German and French militaries as they render a salute during the playing of the American, French and German national anthems during a ceremony June 2, 2016, at the U.S. Army Air Force Transport Memorial in Picauville, France. More than 380 service members from Europe and affiliated D-Day historical units are participating in the 72nd anniversary as part of Joint Task Force D-Day 72. The Task Force, based in Saint Mere Eglise, France, is supporting local events across Normandy, from May 30 to June 6, 2016 to commemorate the selfless actions by all the allies on D-Day that continue to resonate 72 years later.
