Lt. Larry Gulliver, expeditionary division officer, AG3 Tonja Boyles, technician, and AG2 Nicholas Wissler, lead technician, all from the Fleet Survey Team, U.S. Navy, review the data collected using the Expeditionary Survey Vehicles with Sailor 1st Class Eder Lopez, Sailor 1st Class Andres Bolano and PH3 Diego Nossa, all from the Centro De Investigaciones Oceanograficas e Hidrograficas, Colombian navy, during Oceanographic Southern Partnership Station 10 in Cartagena, Colombia. FST personnel currently assigned to the USNS Henson used the ESVs, or Jet Skis, to demonstrate shallow water surveys to Colombia Naval personnel from the Centro De Investigaciones Oceanograficas e Hidrograficas in the Port of Cartagena, Columbia. The data collected from the surveys was then processed on CARIS - Hips and Sips 6.1 software to produce a graphic representation of the surveyed area. The Henson will remain in Cartagena for several days to demonstrate various military oceanography and hydrography survey techniques and technology used by the U.S. Navy to collect data which can be used to create or update nautical charts and other mission-related data. O-SPS 10 is a joint project being conducted to demonstrate current technologies and capabilities of the U.S. Navy, to share information on conducting military oceanographic surveys in various environments between members of the CIOH staff and the crew of the Henson, and to strengthen ties between each country's military.
