John A. Lejeune Hall, also known as Building One, is the headquarters building for Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. In August 1942, Lt. Col. William P. T. Hill moved the headquarters to Building One where it has remained the command center for the base for the last 74 years. Brig. Gen. Thomas D. Weidley commands the base and its "city," which supports a population of nearly 180,000 Marines, sailors, family members and retirees on the installation and in the surrounding community.
