160522-N-IK388-011 SAN DIEGO (May 22, 2016) – High school student Maggie Chen, first place winner of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) senior division science fair award, displays her project during the 34th Annual SWE Celebration and Awards Banquet held at Point Loma’s Liberty Station. SWE hosted the event to honor the life of Alice May Anderson, a pioneer in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field and is considered one of the country’s first “human computers.” They also recognized science fair winners, scholarship recipients and SWE leaders from across the San Diego area.
