First Team Commanding General Maj. Gen. John Thomson pins the Expert Infantryman badge onto the chest of Spc. Jacob Nausadis, an infantryman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. Nausadis was motivated to earn the badge by his father who is also an expert infantryman. Out of 827 candidates, 71 Soldiers were pinned with shiny new Expert Infantryman Badges in a ceremony on Cooper Field at Fort Hood, Texas, May 13.
