A CT scan displays an abdominal aorta aneurysm and a common iliac artery aneurysm in a 60-year-old male patient at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. On April 18, WBAMC became the first Department of Defense military treatment facility to use a new Food and Drug Administration-approved device which prevents the blocking of the internal iliac artery (identified on left image) preserving bloodflow to the pelvis and preventing pain and sexual dysfunction for the patient. The CT scan on the left displays the abdomin and pelvis before device placement, while the image on the right displays noticeable recessions of the aneurysms one day after device placement.
