MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – U.S. Navy Lt. Kathryn Weiss, a staff nurse in the emergency department at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, examines a prototype being presented at the Expeditionary Energy Concepts symposium at Camp Pendleton May 3, 2016. The knee brace is designed to harvest kinetic energy as Marines walk and power radios, batteries and other equipment. E2C features new technologies developed by outside companies to improve the reach and effectiveness of the Marine Corps. The three-day event also gives Marines who would work with the technology on a daily basis the opportunity to identify possible areas for improvement. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
