NEW ORLEANS - Chief Petty Officer Keith Watters accepts the 2016 New Orleans Federal Executive Board's Outstanding Community Service/Volunteer Distinguished Service Award for his public contributions, May 4, 2016.
Watters, who is assigned to MSU Baton Rouge, teamed up with local businesses to build two playgrounds for inner city children. he initiated a one-on-one reading tutoring session with Jefferson Terrence Elementary School. He worked with Academic Magnet Elementary School on a variety of jobs to assist the organization. He also solicited donations for school supplies during the Baton Rouge stuff-the-bus campaign. Watters also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, led food drive efforts in the greater Baton Rogue area.
