Gen. Frank J. Grass, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, toured New Mexico National Guard Apr. 29-30, 2016. Grass began his visit at the Army Aviation Support Facility then was flown via Army UH-60 Black Hawk to the southern section of New Mexico. He met with local Border Patrol officials as well as the leadership of the NMNG Counterdrug Program then toured the international border aboard an LUH-72 Lakota piloted and crewed by Army National Guardsmen. Grass spoke with the community of Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque as well as flew on the CV-22 Osprey, piloted and crewed by Air National Guardsmen, in order to fully understand the pleothora of capabilities in N.M.
