Petty Officer 3rd Class Robert Rendon, aviation survival technician, from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend, Ore., escorts Paul Schafer from the site of the 54-year-old's crashed biplane, Feb. 28. Schafer was flown to North Bend and transported to Bay Area Hospital in North Bend by ambulance.
