CHESAPEAKE, Va. (Apr. 23, 2016) Captain John "J.C." Carter, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), speaks with Dan Crowley, a survivor of the Bataan death march and prisoner of war during World War II during the 5th Annual Bataan Death March Memorial Walk. The purpose of this annual event is to commemorate those who survived and died during the 65 mile march of surrendered American and Filipino troops to prison camps that took place on the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon during Word War II in April 1942.
