U.S. Army Spc. Derek Faulk, a member of the 4-73rd Cavalry, 82nd Airborne Division, squats 495 pounds during a Forward Operating Base Farah weightlifting competition held Feb. 12, Afghanistan. Faulk competed in the heavyweight class taking first place with a combined total of 1,445 pounds lifted during the bench press, squat, and dead lift events. U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Juan Rijos, Faulk's spotter, was the organizer of the Air Force sponsored contest, which rallied 13 athletes.
