First Lt. Matthew Forrest, platoon leader for Company A, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, conducts an after action review with Filipino soldiers at Crow Valley Range Complex, Philippines on April 9. Counterparts of the Filipino army conducted dismounted assault lane rehearsals, while members of 2-3 Infantry Regiment observed and assessed the scenario. The rehearsal was in preparation for the final exercise, or FINEX, for the U.S. Army Pacific organized Pacific Pathways training exercise, Balikatan 2016. Balikatan is an annual Philippine-U.S. military bilateral training exercise that is a signature element of the Philippine-U.S. alliance focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance, maritime law enforcement, and environmental protection.
