The U.S. Army Reserve was founded April 23, 1908, when Congress authorized the Army to establish a Medical Reserve Corps, the official predecessor of the U.S. Army Reserve. Over the years, U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers have participated in every major military campaign to include; World War I, World War II, Korean War, Cold War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism. Today, approximately 200,000 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers serve around the globe.
