    364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

    MARYSVILLE, Wash.-The careers of five Army officers and an Army civilian were honored on April 17th during a formal retirement ceremony held at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Marysville.
    The ceremony commemorated over 120 combined years of service to the nation. The Commanding General of the 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Brig. Gen. Gregory Moser presided over the event and presented awards to the honorees.

    Brig. Gen. Mosser addressed the retirees and over 100 soldiers and family members in attendance. Highlighting the significant contributions of the retirees, he offered his personal thanks for their service as well as the thanks of the Army and the nation. "At a time of their transition from the military to a retired state, how appropriate it is to give them that honor", he said.

    The honorees included Col. Dwight Ortiz, Col. Daniel DeHaan, Lt. Col. Derek Bonaldo, Lt. Col. Harry Matsumoto, Lt. Col. Kelly Shirley, and Mr. Scott McKean. Bonaldo, Matsumoto, and Shirley were awarded the Army Meritorious Service Medal. DeHaan was awarded the Legion of Merit and McKean the Superior Civilian Service Award. In addition, each was presented a Certificate of Retirement and a U.S. flag and pin. Family members of the retirees were honored for their years of selfless sacrifice and support of their service member.
    Each retiree gave remarks during the ceremony, looking back on years of service and taking the opportunity to thank coworkers and family members for their support. Remarking on his career, Col. Ortiz stated: “I will miss the Army because it has been a part of me for so long, but I know what I will truly miss is the camaraderie that comes with it.”
