Both Soldiers, who serve on 4th Infantry Division Mission Command Element's Romania Civil Affairs Team as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, were recognized with the equivalent of the Army Commendation Medal after coming to the rescue of three Romanian civilians injured in a rollover car accident March 3, 2016, on Highway A2 between Bucharest and MK Air Base. Barron, a civil affairs team sergeant, hails from El Paso, Texas, and McCoy, a combat medic, is from Saginaw, Michigan, have been working with Romanian civil affairs counterparts throughout the country since January.
