An Okinawan family cleans the tomb of their ancestors for the annual “Shimi” celebration April 10, 2016, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. Tombs dating back hundreds of years are scattered across Okinawa, some on Kadena property. Once a year, local families come onto the base to perform the rituals with their family.
