Capt. Rodelio Laco, commander, Task Group 41.8, meets with nongovernmental organization medical volunteers at Saint Damien Hospital De Chateau-Blond to discuss the receipt of patients from USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) for after care. Laco is responsible for the operational coordination of Comfort?s activities to receive, treat and discharge patients from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, affected by the earthquake that struck Jan. 12. The U.S. government has hundreds of medical personnel on the ground in Haiti, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians who are working closely with a multinational group of nongovernmental organizations to help Haiti recover from this disaster.
