160318-N-YL073-241 RED SEA (March 18, 2016) Aviation Structural Mechanic 1st Class Jonathan Bowes, from Statesville, N.C., attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 28, the “Dragon Whales,” assembles the tail landing gear for an SH-60S Seahawk helicopter in the hangar bay aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Kearsarge is the flagship for the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
