Jeurs, assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), reads a statement to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami and the subsequent relief efforts of Operation Tomodachi in 2011. Shiloh was one of sixteen U.S. Navy ships to participate in Operation Tomodachi, a humanitarian mission focused on aiding the people of Japan in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Fukushima Prefecture March 11, 2011.
