Cpl. Gillian Miller, a supply specialist with Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, reads a scripture and gives her personal reflection of the loss of her friend during the memorial service held at the base chapel in remembrance of Logistics Specialist Petty Officer Third Class Brendah T. Downing aboard MCB Hawaii, March 2, 2016. After a long battle with her illness, she passed away Feb. 23, 2016. She emigrated from Kenya to get an education here in the United States and she did just that. Graduating from a university with a Bachelors in Arts, but she didn’t stop there.
