Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Maria Soto, Sector Charleston Enforcement Division, maritime law enforcement specialist, directs a semi to pull over at the Wando River Terminal port in Charleston, S.C., March 2, 2016. Routinely, Soto will inspect vehicles entering the port to ensure valid identification. Additionally, she checks the vehicles and drivers for any type of contraband. Soto is honored to be recognized for Women’s History Month because she said if it weren’t for women who came before her, she wouldn’t be doing what she is doing today.
