160307-N-MC656-102 ARABIAN GULF (March 7, 2015) Aviation Electronics Technician 3rd Class Jim Welch, from Anacoco, La., attached to the embarked Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 28, the “Dragon Whales,” performs a pre-flight inspection of an MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Kearsarge is the flagship for the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
