Command Sgt. Maj. Vernon Pratt, a member of the Saginaw-based, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry, helps restock warehouse stores of bottled water for distribution to residents of Flint following the detection of elevated levels of lead in Flint’s municipal water system. Pratt received a Michigan Active State Service Ribbon, a Michigan Legion of Merit Medal from Maj. Gen. Gregory Vadnais, director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and adjutant general of the Michigan National Guard, during an awards ceremony held Jan. 25, 2016 at the Saginaw Michigan Army National Guard armory. Of the nearly 300 Michigan Army and Air National Guard members who served the Flint mission, Pratt and only one other Soldier will receive a Michigan Distinguished Service Medal for their outstanding service in a coordinating leadership role (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc.
