Lance Cpl. Nicholas I. Russell, legal clerk, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, marches forward while carrying an M-16A4 service rifle for the memorial stand of Lance Cpl. Mark D. Juarez, 23, who was killed in action, Jan. 9. The memorial service at Forward Operating Base Geronimo, Jan. 19, also honored British journalist Rupert Hamer, 39, who had embedded with the battalion. Both were killed while Marines conducted combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province.
