160217-N-ZZ999-296 SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2016) Equipment Operator 2nd Class William Colby, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, ensures that boreholes are properly filled with explosives in preparation for a quarry blast. The Seabee quarry on San Clemente Island is the only operational quarry in the Naval Construction Force. NMCB 3 is homeported in Port Hueneme, Calif., and is currently deployed to Okinawa, Japan. Its mission is to support Navy and joint forces throughout the U.S. Pacific Command with construction projects and humanitarian missions in more than 13 different geographical locations.
