Coast Guard Station Burlington, Vermont’s ice rescue team trains in Burlington Bay Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. The team consists of four members, all with unique jobs. The team leader determines what technique will be used and directs the rescue. The primary rescuer approaches the survivor and executes the rescue technique. The secondary rescuer relays communications and tends the line that is attached to the primary rescuer. The fourth team member is responsible for radio communications with the station.
