Ensign Michael Beautyman undoes a rope holding the brow of the mine counter-measures ship USS Patriot as the ship makes ready to depart on a five-month deployment. During her deployment Patriot will visit 14 ports in eight countries, conduct several exercises with foreign navies and undertake numerous community service projects.
