160205-O-ZZ999-919 NAS Patuxent River (February 5, 2016) An Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) F-35A Lightning II aircraft made aviation history as it completed the very first F-35 trans-Atlantic Ocean crossing, arriving at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., from Cameri Air Base, Italy, on Feb. 5 at 2:24 p.m. EST. F-35A aircraft AL-1, the first international jet fully built overseas at the Cameri Final Assembly & Check-Out (FACO) facility at Cameri Air Base, Italy, is also the first F-35 assembled outside of the U.S. to land on U.S. soil.
