Two Marine V-22 Ospreys operated by Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 out of U.S. Marine Corps Air Station in New River, N.C., arrive at Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan, to transport members of the Farah Provincial Reconstruction Team who are escorting Farah province Gov. Rahool Amin and six of his line directors to Golestan district for a Shura, Jan. 4. The Osprey, with its rotating propeller design, can perform missions like a conventional helicopter such as vertical takeoff and landing, but also has long range and high speed cruising abilities like a propeller airplane.
