This photo illustration was created to serve as a visual reminder for members of the Air Force that it is Black History Month. As the men and women of the Air Force celebrate Black History Month for the 40th year, it is important to not just look back, but look forward as well. As Airmen of all ranks examine and honor the legacy left by the Tuskegee Airmen and individuals like Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr., Gen. Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. and Maj. Gen. Marcelite J. Harris who transcended bigotry and racism, it is also a time for a call to action. It is time to inherit their legacy rather than just read about it—to own it rather than just hear someone give a speech about it. It is time to do something.
