Pfc. Chris Gauthier of the Vermont National Guard's 86th Brigade Combat Team helps to simulate how some improvised explosive devices are triggered. Gauthier, of Shaftsbury, Vt., and the 86th BCT learn techniques to identify IEDs and the different procedures used to securely combat these threats in theater. The 86th Brigade Combat Team is currently training at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center before deploying early February for one year to Afghanistan.
