160130-N-GZ947-083 PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 30, 2016) - Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Alex Fernau, from St. Jospeph, Mich., and Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Hayden East, from Lake Charles, La., guide an arresting gear cable back it's start position after an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to the Warhawks of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97 landed on USS John C. Stennis' (CVN 74) flight deck. Providing a combat-ready force to protect collective maritime interests, Stennis is operating as part of the Great Green Fleet in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment.
