CAMP FOSTER OKINAWA, Japan - Brig. Gen. Joaquin F. Malavet signs the Military Saves Month Proclamation, Jan. 27, aboard Camp Foster Okinawa, Japan. Military saves week is a campaign set forth by the Department of Defense every February encouraging service members to save money and monitor spending. Aboard Marine Corps Installation Pacific, however, Marine Corps Community Services financial management specialists extend that for an entire month to stress the importance of financial readiness as well as raise awareness for the many programs available to service members. Malavet stated, readiness, including financial readiness is essential an essential duty as a Marine. If you’re interested in learning more about saving, investing or finances in general, check out their website www.militarysaves.org. MCIPAC is the strength behind America’s ability to respond quickly to crisis in the Indo-Asia Pacific Region. MCIPAC Strengthens power projection with our allies and partners; enables strategic launch and recovery of military capabilities to save lives and to preserve regional peace, stability and security; and enables operating force readiness to guarantee victory. Malavet is the commanding general of MCIPAC. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Royce Dorman)
