U.S. Air Force Maj. Ronny Bowman, an optometric physician with the 35th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, discusses with Tina Rueb, a child youth program assistant with the Lunney Youth Center, the health and wellness of her eyes at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Jan. 21, 2016. Routine eye exams offer patients a prescription for glasses if they need them and is more than a simple vision screening test typically conducted by their primary care doctor. A prescription for contact lenses requires a separate exam. Optometry also provides optional well-child eye exams every two years between the ages of three and six and also include a screening for lazy eye and crossed eyes. These exams are provided by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Bowman hails from Paris, Ark., and Reub is a Clovis, N.M., native. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Benjamin W. Stratton)
