Staff Sergeant Joshua M. Cardona and Sgt. Daniel E. Elizarraraz, drill instructors, Receiving Company, Support Battalion, instruct a recruit to say the proper greeting of the day when a Marine passes him during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 25. Recruits are required to be respectful to any Marine they come in contact with to practice customs and courtesies. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate April 22.
