Portsmouth, Va., -based Cutter Northland crew prepares an at-sea transfer of seized 7,000 kilos of cocaine and 522 kilos of methamphetamine in the Eastern Pacific throughout its 56-day patrol from December 2015 to January 2016. The Coast Guard and its partners routinely deploy to known drug transit zones in the Eastern Pacific to interdict large shipments of contraband in support of Operation Martillo, an international operation focused on sharing information and bringing together air, land, and maritime assets from the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and Western Hemisphere and European partner nation agencies to counter illicit trafficking.
