121021-N-ZZ352-179 BAN TALONG, THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF LAOS (Oct. 21, 2012) One of the workers from the village takes a rest after hiking up the hill to the excavation site. Local workers are commonly contracted to assist the recovery teams sent out by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC). In addition to receiving wages for their labor, local workers also receive community benefits, such as bridge improvements and free health clinics from JPAC medics. JPAC's ongoing mission is to search for and recover the remains of fallen service members from past American conflicts until they are all home. (Navy photo by Seaman Clifford Bailey/Released)
