PACIFIC OCEAN (Dec. 13, 2015) MV-22 Ospreys from the “Greyhawks” of Marine Medium-lift Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161 (Reinforced) are staged on the flight deck of Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15th MEU), is currently operating in the 3rd fleet area of responsibility.
