151209-N-XJ788-027 ARABIAN GULF (Dec. 9, 2015) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Joshua Jackson, from Houston, directs an MH-60S Sea Hawk as it lowers cargo onto the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) during a vertical replenishment with the Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4).. Kearsarge is the flagship for the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
