As seen through night-vision optics, Pfc. John Williams, a paratrooper with Company D, 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division (Advise and Assist Brigade), patrols near the Iraqi-Syrian border beneath a three-quarter moon, Dec. 7, 2009.
