During a Nov. 19, 2015, tour of the Camp Zama museum in Camp Zama, Japan, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Reserve Component candidates from the 117th Training Battalion, JGSDF, gather around a model map of the post as it looked in the early 20th century. Prior to the end of the Second World War, Camp Zama was the home of the Japanese Imperial Army Academy. Today, U.S. Army Japan shares the post with several JGSDF units. Both sides work together to preserve the surviving monuments, emperor's air raid shelter and other landmarks that define Camp Zama's rich history.
