U.S. Army 1st Lt. Thomas Foster, a West Virginia National Guard Soldier deployed to Kosovo with 1st Squadron, 150th Cavalry Regiment, fires Germany’s standard-issue Heckler and Koch P8 as part of the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge qualification on Nov. 24, 2015, in Prizren, Kosovo. The pistol marksmanship test is the first part the GAFPB, which is one of the few foreign awards authorized to be worn on the U.S. Army Service Uniform. To earn the badge, the Soldiers went on to compete in a 100-meter swim while wearing their full duty uniform in under four minutes, and also perform events testing their physical fitness and ruck march endurance.
