The Level 1 rapid infusion system allows trauma teams, like the one that U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Clint Peyton (left) , a squadron corpsman with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft Group 40, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan, and First Class Christopher Stokes, Royal Navy Medical Assistant, an assistant with the trauma team, Emergency Department, United Kingdom Joint Forces Medical Group, use on an almost daily basis, to rapidly provide fluids and blood products to patients that arrive at the hospital. The trauma teams here treat coalition forces, Afghan civilians and suspected enemy personnel, many of whom sustain severe wounds originating from improvised explosive devices.
